  14th Aug, 1996
  The Department of Urban Development & Housing was created by merging together the Director of Estates from office of the Deputy Commissioner, Papum-Pare district, Director of Housing from PWD(Western Zone), Town Planning unit from Senior Architect (PWD) and Swarna Jayanti Sahari Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY) from Rural Development department.
  28th Aug, 1996
  Mr. A .Morang, Town Planner was allowed to function as designate Director.
  25th Sept, 2000
  The Government appointed Er. K. Wahge, who was Executive- Engineer in PWD, as the Director of the Department with full fledged charge by replacing Mr. A. Morang. During his time the Department was re-designated as Directorate of Housing.
  25th April, 2000
  Er. A. Lego, Executive Engineer in PWD was posted as Director Housing to take over the charge from Er. K. Wahge on his transfer.
  30th June,2000
  (i) The post of Director Housing was re-designated as Director of UD & Housing.
(ii) The rank of Director of the Department was upgraded from Existing rank of Executive Engineer to Superintending Engineer.
  16th Nov, 2001
  (i) Er. A. Lego was promoted from Executive Engineer to Superintending Engineer in his parent Department i.e. PWD and he relieved the charge of Director (UD & Housing).
(ii) The Govt. posted Mr. S.D. Vaidya, an IAS Officer as Director of the Department, he continued till 9th January 2002.
  5th Feb, 2002
  On posting of Mr. S.D Vaidya as D.C. Roing Shri R. Ronya, Under Secretary (UD) was given additional charge of Director of the Department.
  25th June, 2002
  (i) Shri A. Morang was allowed to look after the charge of the Department. He has continue till 7th June’ 2005 as Director (UD & Housing).
  8th June, 2005
  (a) The Govt. has appointed Er. Toli Basar, by replacing Shri A. Morang as Director of the department.
Subsequently Shri Toli Basar, Director (UD & Housing) was permanently absorbed and promoted to the post of Chief Engineer cum Director.
  31st August, 2009
  The Govt. has approved Er. Taba Tedir by replacing Er. Toli Basar as CE cum Director of the department.
